Oversee Law Library operation as Co-Acting Director of the Law Library, collaborating with College of Law leadership on AI initiatives, budget strategy, and safety concerns. Lead the Research, Data, & Instruction team of three to five librarians, each providing instruction, reference services, and faculty support, one grant program manager, and three to five student workers. Provide empirical and geospatial research support to students and faculty, and data analytic services to the law library and law school leadership. Oversee the Law Library Fellows Program. Collaborate with the Library Director on the library budget, currently $2.5 million, including recent budget modeling to provide projections for 5%, 10%, and 15% cuts in year one and an additional 3% to 5% in year two in response to recent financial difficulties at the University of Arizona.

Major accomplishments
  • Supported the creation of the Supreme Court Indian Law Database (forthcoming 2026) through data engineering, technical advising, and oversight.
  • Selected as the Law School’s emerging-leader faculty participant for the University’s FY25 Research Leadership Institute.
  • Selected as the University of Arizona institutional submission for the NEH Humanities Research Centers on Artificial Intelligence grant, proposing the Center for Legal Informatics Futures.
  • Founded and co-lead the Future of Law Libraries Initiative: six regional roundtables using scenario building, now in a second phase building a central organization, knowledge hub, and training.
  • Co-taught the course that built the Medical Debt Policy Scorecard, ranking all 50 states and leading to statutory change in several.
  • Research team member of the University of Arizona Land-Grant Project, mapping over 750,000 acres selected by the State of Arizona over historical maps of Indigenous lands.
  • Collaborated with the International Dark Sky Association on a light pollution law database and web mapping application.
  • Redesigned the Law Library Fellows Program around structured training, tiered mentorship, and career advising; graduated and placed the first two law librarians without JDs. Published three open handbooks so other libraries can start their own.
  • Led design sessions to restructure library work under reduced staffing, refocusing priority services and modernizing instructional load.

Initiated the Law Library instance of Suma and self-checkout through MeeScan. Learned AutoCAD to update the Library’s PDF maps. Co-created the Duke Law Online website: traffic and behavior-flow analytics, page layouts, user experience testing, and custom HTML including a dynamically updating open-hours table and search and filter for the database list.

Major accomplishments
  • Revived the Faculty Research Assistant program, supervising five RAs averaging ten projects and 170 research hours a semester.
  • Launched the Library Student Advisory Council, which led to improved spaces, responsive services, and a parallel College of Law council.
  • Built an interactive ArcGIS web application on local public housing for a clinic.
  • Founded Duke Law Tech Day and just-in-time pop-up technology training for students.
  • Co-created the Duke Law Online site: analytics, layouts, user testing, and custom HTML including a live hours table and database search and filter.
  • Major contributor to the College’s COVID response, including online course management training for faculty.
